In this program, students learn the skills of giving medications. The cost is $400, books/materials included. Both day and evening classes are eighteen-hours courses. - The Medication Administration Program (MAP) was implemented to increase the safety and security of medication administration for individuals living in Department of Mental Health (DMH), Department of Children and Families (DCF), or Department of developmental Services (DDS) licensed, funded, or operated community residential programs that are their primary residences and/or participating in day programs and short-term respite programs. Also, private patients can use this service if agreed upon between caregiver and family/patients consent. The program makes it possible for direct care staff, who knows the specific needs and concerns of each individual, to administer medication as a normal part of the individual’s daily routine. MAP is implemented through uniform, statewide standards that undergo continuous evaluation and improvement. The Program has benefited from the experience and involvement of individuals, families, service providers, and professional organizations.
